Description

The MacFarlane Memorial, located at 117 Meadway Road in Paterangi, commemorates three children of early settlers George and Opehia MacFarlane. Mary MacFarlane (d. 1852, aged 14), Duncan MacFarlane (d. 1864, aged 24), and Thomas MacFarlane (d. 1865, aged 18) are buried here.

Although the original memorial dates to circa 1865, a 1935 Waipa Post entry suggests that a monument was erected later, likely replacing an earlier timber structure. Both George and Opehia MacFarlane are buried in the nearby Paterangi Cemetery.
