Description

The Ōhaupō Memorial Hall, built in 1923, stands as a prominent community landmark in Ōhaupō, located on Great South Road. This concrete and stucco hall, with its distinctive Dutch gable roof, has long served as a social hub, hosting events like film screenings, sports groups, concerts, and community meetings.

It also commemorates the local soldiers who served in WWI with a decorative Roll of Honour featuring oak leaves, roses, ferns, rifles, swords, hats and olive branches, and includes the names of those who participated and 10 who lost their lives. The hall continues to be a vital part of the community, celebrating its centenary in 2023 with a special gathering to honour its legacy.
