Physical description A hand crafted abstract design with four main components descending down the board in multiple colours.

Description

This art work was presented to the Cambridge Borough Council on its centenary, August 1986 by the Spinners and Weavers.

Each separate piece of the main design represents branches as trees are a distinct feature in Cambridge.

The four coloured parts of this piece depict the following (from left to right):

– wars,

– conflict between the Redcoats and local Māori,

– transformation into a tree form.

– unity with the colours are intermingled showing togetherness of people.
