Celebrate Children’s Day with Tui & Tama’s Eco Expo
We are celebrating Children’s Day on Sunday 3 March 2024 with the return of our FANTASTIC Tui & Tama’s Eco Expo. It’s shaping up to be even bigger and better than our last one so come on down to this FREE event and find out about all the awesome mahi being done in our community to help our native plants and animals thrive.
Tui & Tama present – Legends Unleashed Dinosaur Extravaganza
Inspired by Dinosaur Darren’s Tupuna (ancestors) Māori Legends of the might Taniwha and ferocious Ngarara recited to him by his Grandmother, Dinosaur Darren & Rista have put together an awesome program which takes whānau (family) on an educational and entertaining journey back in time not only to the time of the Dinosaurs but also to the days when Darren’s Tupuna (ancestors) encountered the mighty Taniwha and ferocious god like creeping Ngarara.

Your hosts Tui & Tama like to activate learning about the history of this land Aotearoa New Zealand, specifically the Waipā District and share stories through creative activities!
They are very inquisitive and love showing visitors what’s on in the centre and playing games with their friends – the Club Mascots!

Tui & Tama’s Waipā’s Journeys Passport
There are three passports that take kids and families around the Waipā seeing different significant sites answering questions and doing activities. All you have to do is drop in to the Te Awamutu Museum – Education & Research Centre, choose your journey passport, fill in your name and travel to the site. When it’s all complete, come back into the Centre and you will receive a little token to show you’ve finished it! Try all three, it’s exciting and a great way to learn about history, the environment and see a bit of what Waipā’s got to offer.
