Supporting Autism Awareness Month
The Te Awamutu Museum has been celebrating Autism Awareness Month by showcasing local Enrich+ artists art work on the Front Porch Gallery, since 2015. In 2016, the Museum decided to name future exhibitions ‘Kaleidoscope of Colour’ and devote the month of April as a celebration of Enrich+ artist’s creativity and the work of Enrich+ Spectrum Energy in the district of Waipā.
Autism is a near developmental difference that impacts around 1 in 88 people in Aotearoa New Zealand. Those with autism can face challenges in communication and managing social situations. For many years there has been limited supports available for people with autism and their families. Over time Enrich+ has been working to change this. They offer services specifically designed for people with autism, across the Waikato.
April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to promote the acceptance and celebration of autistic people as family members, friends, classmates, co-workers and community members making valuable contributions to our world. Enrich+ will be ‘lighting up gold’ throughout April in support of Autism Acceptance Month and as part of this celebration, Enrich + is pleased to present an art exhibition.
