We Love Tuna!

Tui & Tama’s friend Tuna is hosting the month of November’s Public Programme of activities! 
 
Each month begins on the Saturday with a FREE Tui & Tama Club event for existing and new members. Tui and Tama’s friends introduce the month’s theme and activities. Each club member receives a Tui & Tama Club Passport to record their participation at the end of the activities with a mascot sticker! Members collect all 6 mascot stickers to go into a special end of year prize pack!
This month our mascot Tuna welcomes everyone this November to learn all about amazing Tuna! Come on in to gain your next Tui & Tama Activity Passport sticker – Tuna when you complete all the awesome FREE activities happening on Saturday 4th November 2023!
 
  • Make and colour-in your own Tuna puppet!
  • Have a go at the ‘We Love Tuna activity sheet,
  • See if you can complete the Tuna Colour-in poster,
  • Decorate your Tuna and add it to our Tuna Wetland!
  • FREE to all existing and new members!
  • If you’re not a Tui & Tama Club member, you can sign up anytime for FREE!

Māori Myths & Legends with Taniwha!

Tui & Tama’s friend Taniwha is hosting the month of October’s Public Programme! 
 
Each month begins on the Saturday with a FREE Tui & Tama Club event for existing and new members. Tui and Tama’s friends introduce the month’s theme and activities. Each club member receives a Tui & Tama Club Passport to record their participation at the end of the activities with a mascot sticker! Members collect all 6 mascot stickers to go into a special end of year prize pack!
This month our mascot Taniwha welcomes everyone this October to learn about local myths & legends of the Waipā!
 
Come on in to gain your next Tui & Tama Activity Passport sticker – Taniwha when you complete all the awesome FREE activities happening on Saturday!
  • Learn how to use our specially designer hand-made printer with ours or your own crafted taniwha design!
  • Design-a-Taniwha using light boxes and creature parts,
  • Make a Taniwha mask and embellish it with colour and jewels,
  • Create an articulated Taniwha whose joints move,
  • Make a taniwha mono print…and much more!
  • Learn about our awesome local myths presented as a graphic novel!
  • FREE to all existing and new members!

September with Huhu

We’re celebrating Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori with Huhu as your host!
Tui & Tama’s friend Huhu is hosting September’s Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori month! Come on in and enjoy our FREE activities with the main Tui & Tama Event happening Saturday 2nd September from 10.30am-1.30pm.
Lots of extra fun activities as well as prompts to help in your learning to speak te reo Māori! Here’s what’s happening:
We’ll have lots of easy te reo prompts to help you on your learning journey, plus…
  • Learn how to use our new specially designed hand printer!
  • Create your own design then print it!
  • Make mono prints with our Māori designs using the whakairo blocks!
  • Create your whakapapa with Huhu!
  • Colour-in Huhu, cut it out and place it on the rākau tree!
  • And much more…….!
Don’t forget, when you’ve completed all the activities, collect your Huhu mascot sticker and add it to your Tui & Tama Activity Passport!
 
Drop in and join in the fun!
Saturday 2 September from 11.30am-1.30pm
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

August with Ruru

We’re celebrating Family History month with Ruru as your host.
Tui & Tama’s friend Ruru is hosting August’s Family History month! Come on in and enjoy our FREE activities with the main Tui & Tama Event happening Saturday 2nd August from 10.30am-1.30pm. Lots of extra fun activities as well as the following:
  • Make a Ruru mask
  • Create a Ruru taonga box
  • Write our your family tree
  • Colour in a leaf and add your name to it and attach to the big Family Tree in the kids space

Matariki 2023 with Kākāpō

Tui & Tama’s friend Kākāpō is launching our new public programme schedule involving a Tui & Tama Passport for existing and new members to collect all the activity stickers each month until December 2023! If you collect all 6 mascot stickers in the passport, you go in to the prize draw in December!
  • Come on in and make a Matariki Lantern you can pop a LED candle into!
  • Make a Popsicle whetu!
  • Colour in a Matariki star and cast it into the star net!
  • Write your name on a star and add it to the interactive star constellation!
Loads of FREE fun for all the whānau!
